Women’s Studies, University of Guelph

On April 7, 2009, the Women’s Studies specialization in the BA Program at the University of Guelph was cancelled by the Senate.

Students enrolled in this program will continue to be supported by the university in reaching their goal of graduating with a Major, Minor, or Area of Concentration in Women’s Studies.

The Women’s Studies Program will be phased out over a number of years, to ensure that students will be able to fulfill the requirements of their program of study according to the Academic Calendar within which they entered the university.

Students who are not registered in Women’s Studies, or who have begun their studies at the university after April 2009, may wish to pursue interests in feminism and Women’s Studies at the university by forging an independent study program based on courses with relevant foci. Although the program has been cancelled, a great diversity of faculty are researching and teaching in these areas. A curriculum map is being created to assist students who decide to take such an independent course of study.

Students with questions or concerns should contact the Associate Dean, College of Arts, Ann Wilson, by telephone, 519-824-4120 x54388; or email:
